The home was the residence of Jay and Tonya Colton and according to social media information, Jay Colton was seriously burned in the incident. He was transported to the hospital and the only known injury. Two other members of the household escaped without injury. The explosion resulted in a large number of questions about what happened on social media following the blast.
The cause of the incident is currently under investigation by the Cumberland County fire department and the Tennessee Fire Marshall. Numerous firefighters and vehicles fought the resulting blaze that completely destroyed the home. A large amount of the public watched the fire as the explosion brought neighbors and others to the area.
