isolated accumulations up to 1 inch. Trace amounts are possible

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST SUNDAY...
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches, and ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch.
* WHERE...The portion of Middle Tennessee around and north of I-40.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to noon CST Sunday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches, and ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch.
* WHERE...The portion of Middle Tennessee around and north of I-40.

A strong low-pressure system will be tracking across the northern Gulf coast through Sunday. Meanwhile, high pressure to our north will continue to pump cold air across the region. As this colder air meets up with the northward advancing moisture, the rain will change to a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain across northern portions of Middle Tennessee tonight. The wintry mix will continue into Sunday morning before changing back to rain and slowly tapering off from west to east in the afternoon.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook cals for Snow and very light Ice Accumulation through Sunday
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Middle Tennessee.
Rain may mix with snow at times this morning. Light snow accumulation of a half inch or less is possible mainly west and northwest of the Nashville metro.
Additional wintry precipitation is expected overnight tonight especially north of Interstate 40. Snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch and very light ice accumulations are possible.

A Wintry Mix Continues to be Expected Across the Mid-State Region This Weekend...
Best Chance For Snow, Sleet, and Ice Accumulations Continues to Appear to be Saturday Night through Sunday Evening...
A surface low-pressure system, moving along the Gulf Coast, will spread a mixed bag of precipitation northward into Middle Tennessee this weekend.
The first round of wintry precipitation will occur tonight and early Saturday, especially along the Interstate 40 corridor. This should be mainly a snow and rain, with slushy snow accumulations of a few tenths of an inch possible. It might be enough to at least whiten the ground in some areas.
A better chance for a wintry mix will occur Saturday night through Sunday evening, consisting of a mix of snow, sleet and light freezing rain. There`s a possibility for an inch or two of snow and sleet in areas north and west of Nashville and along the Highland Rim, then eastward to the Cumberland Plateau.
Right now, it looks like our extreme northeastern areas, including Fentress County, could get upwards of 3 inches. If skies remain cloudy over the east on Sunday, as expected, believe high temperatures along the Cumberland Plateau may not get out of the middle 30s.
The Nashville area could see a slushy half inch to one inch of snow and sleet Saturday night and Sunday. There could also be light freezing rain amounts around five-hundredths of an inch or less mainly for locations around and north of the I-40 corridor on Saturday night. As colder air spreads in behind our departing low-pressure area Sunday night and early Monday, we could see some additional snow accumulations of few tenths of an inch.

The student revealed the firearm to other students who shared the information with administrators. The information came to school officials and the School Resource Officer Jim Higgins at approximately 2:00 p.m. Officer Higgins made contact with the student in less than one (1) minute after receiving the information.
An unloaded small caliber handgun was retrieved from the student and the student was taken into custody without incident, charged with Attempted Aggravated Assault and Possession of a weapon on school property after consulting with the District Attorney’s Office. The juvenile student is being held in custody pending a hearing Monday, December 10, 2018.
Parents were notified by various school messenger apps from the Cumberland County School System as soon as was possible. There was no need to conduct lockdown protocol due to the swift action of the SRO and the immediate containment of the situation.
The investigation is ongoing at the time of this press release. We are grateful for the students that came forward with information. During the investigation, it was revealed to the administration that the students saw the poster “SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING” and made the choice to do so.

Periods of wintry precipitation are possible for the mid state through Monday...
A surface low pressure system over southeastern TX will organize and track eastward along the Gulf Coast through Saturday. Moisture will be lifting northward and will be interacting with colder air over middle TN. The first bout of wintry precipitation will occur tonight and early Saturday across northern portions of the area, generally to the north of I-40. A mixture of sleet and snow is expected. However, amounts will be light and little if any accumulation is expected. Further south, the precipitation should fall as rain, primarily.
AdvertisementA better chance of mixed precipitation will occur Saturday night across the northwest third of the mid state as well as far northern areas including the northern Plateau. Rainfall across this area will change to a mixture of freezing rain and sleet. Ice accumulation of less than one tenth of an inch is possible. Further south, the precipitation should fall as rain. The mixed precipitation will continue into early Sunday morning. On Sunday night, our cold air depth will begin to increase as an upper level slug of energy dives southeastward from the mid west. This will bring a chance of some snowfall to the area. Amounts of 1/2 inch to 1 inch will be possible, with the best chance occurring to the east of I-65, and in particular the Cumberland Plateau region. Note that there is still a great deal of uncertainty with this winter weather scenario
