Local Election results include big win for Simcox and Patterson

With unofficial results from the election commission, Winners include David Simcox for property assessor, John Patterson for 9th district county commissioner, Tom Netherton for 6th district board of education, Theresa Boston for 8th district board of education.  Sue Ann York was not challenged for 1st district county commission seat vacated by Harry Sabine.

 Totals include:
Simcox with 4660 to Pete Souza's 838

Patterson received 891 to challenger Sandra Dutcher's 696 and Bobby Smith 104

The race for 6th district board of education was close and Tom Netherton took the seat by only 2 votes with 189 to Matt Speich's 187.  Victor Randolph received 68 votes.

Theresa Boston received 302 votes to Michael McNally's 194.

Election Day August 4. Polls open from 8 AM to 7 PM (Sample ballots in story)

Today is election day in Cumberland County and across the State of Tennessee.  The ballot includes the state and federal primaries and local county elections.  Sample ballots are below.

The polls will be open between 8 AM and 7 PM.  Local races on the general election ballot include Assessor of Property, county commission seats and board of education seats.

In addition there are the names of 11 sitting justices and judges that voters can choose either to retain or replace on the ballot for appellate and supreme court seats. Those include three Supreme Court at large justices Jeffery S. Bivins, Holly Kirby and Roger A. Page.  Appellate judges on the ballot include Kenny Armstrong, Brandon O. Gibson, Arnold B. Goldin, Robert H. Montgomery, Timothy L. Easter, Robert L. Holloway and J. Ross Dyer

Early Voting continues through July 30 for August 4 election--Sample Ballots included

Early voting continues through noon on Saturday July 30 at the Milo Lemmert building across from the Cumberland County Courthouse at the Election Commission offices.

The Milo Lemmert Building is the location for early voting through July 30.  Hours are 8 to 5 Monday through Friday and 8 to Noon on Saturday. 

In addition to the Democrat and Republican primaries on State and Congressional Races there are county elections for the office of Property Assessor, several board of education seats and seats on the county commission.
