Luke Poore, Martin Elementary School 6th grader was recognized as the February Student of the Month for the character trait of respect.  Luke's teacher, Tamara Tollett described him as "Respectful in his words and actions toward those in his class and beyond."

Emma Grace Christopher Named Student of the Month for Honesty

The January Student of the Month from Martin Elementary School was recognized at the Crossville City Council meeting. 

Emma Grace Christopher was recognized for her character trait of honesty.  In the Fifth Grade class of Ms. Kim Smith, Emma was described as "Honest in both her word and actions toward those in her class and beyond."

Students Honored at Crossville City Council Meeting for Art designs and Character

A number of Cumberland County School children were recognized at the December Crossville City Council meeting.

Madilyn Rymer was recognized at eh Martin Elementary Student of the month for her representation of the character trait of caring. Madilyn is in Ms. Melissa Buffkin’s 2nd-grade class. Her teacher described her as "caring in both her words and actions toward those in her class and beyond."

The annual Crossville Holiday Card contest has been held since the city's Centennial celebration in 2001 and this year 8 schools participated.  

One winner from each school was chosen.  Winners included

Lasean Parsons Named Martin Elementary Student of the Month for Manners

Martin Elementary School Studnet of the Month Lesean Parsons was recognized at the Crossville city council meeting in November for his manners. 

Lesean is in the First Grade Class of teacher Rachel Christopher and was nominated because of his good manners.  Several teachers noticed he says "yes sir" or Good Morning, how are you."

Martin Elementary is honored that Lesean represents the school as Student of the Month for November.

"Responsible" William Garrett Graham named October Student of the month

William Garrett Graham was named the Student of the Month at Martin Elementary School for

The month of October for his representation of the character trait of responsibility.

William is in the Fourth Grade class of teacher Leslie Smith and was nominated because “ he sets a fine example of being responsible at school. Garrett is also a responsible school citizen in his treatment of his fellow classmates. He takes responsibility in helping others both in and out of the classroom setting."

Anna Callejas Perez was recognized as the September student of the month for Martin Elementary School during the Crossville city council's meeting.  Anna, a 5th grader in Mrs. Kim Smiths class was recognized for the character trait of cooperation. Anna was nominated because her PE teacher Ms. Baxter noticed her outstanding display of cooperation in class.  Anna was also described as working well with her peers both in and out of the classroom.

Corbin Seiber recognized as Martin student of the month

Martin Elementary School Fifth grader Corbin Seiber was recognized as the student of the month at the April Crossville city council meeting.

Corbin was recognized for the character trait of citizenship and recognized by his teacher Kim Smith because " he sets a fine example, handles the responsibility of raising the flag and lowering it each day and is always mannerly."

Students Christopher and Glup recognized at February city council meeting

Two young people were recognized during the February Crossville city council meeting, one as Martin Elementary student of the month and one for their artistic talent.

Isabelle "Belle" Christopher was recognized as the Martin student of the month for the character trait of respect.  Seventh grader Belle is in Mrs. Bowen's class and was described as setting "a fine example to her peers in the area of respect."  She is also a leader among her classmates.

Young artist Jimmy Glup was recognized for his artistic talent and the drawings he has done of some of the city's trucks.  Two drawings of the city's street sweeper are amazingly detailed and have been framed for hanging at the city offices.  More recently Jimmy also drew one of the city's snowplow trucks in action as well.  Mayor Mayberry praised the young man's talent and said he is a favorite of the street department employees.

Martin Elementary School 4th grader Emma Grace Cristopher in Mrs. Paradis class was recognized as the student of the month at the January Crossville city council meeting.  Emma was recognized for the character trait of honesty.  Her cheer coach Mrs. Blouin said "Emma sets a fine example of the character trait of honesty."

Christmas Card designers and student of the month recognized by city.

Student Christmas card designers and the December Martin Elementary's student of the month were recognized during the Crossville city council meeting. 

Each year the city of Crossville holds a Christmas card contest 

and students design the cards that the city sends out. The students 

with the winning designs were recognized during the December

Andrew Dennis, a second grader at Martin Elementary School was recognized at the Crossville city council meeting as the student of the month.  Andrew was recognized for his manners.  His teacher, Mrs. Gilbert said he uses manners on a regular basis and sets a great example for his peers everyday.

Third Grader Victoria McCloud MES Student of the month for cooperation

Victoria A. McCloud, of Martin Elementary School was nominated for the character trait “cooperation” by her 3rd grade teachers Mrs. Fairman and Mrs. Tollett. “Victoria has grown so much, taking it upon herself to help others instead of being the one asking for help. She volunteers to assist with tasks, but does not overstep her boundaries. Victoria sets a fine example for others to work together in a cooperative manner in the classroom and beyond!”
