Multiple arrests in Putnam Co. on Drug Trafficking charges Following multi-agency investigation

CHATTANOOGA – A joint investigation into drug trafficking by multiple local, state and federal agencies has resulted in the arrest Wednesday of three individuals in Putnam County. Those agencies participating included the Drug Investigation Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Middle Tennessee Task Force, FBI, DEA, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Cookeville Police Department, and 13th Judicial Drug Task Force.

On March 21st, Agents conducted surveillance at a hotel on Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville, where an individual with an active warrant was known to stay. While the surveillance was ongoing, that individual, Billy White, exited his hotel room and was taken into custody in the parking lot. Agents found on White cocaine, methamphetamine, and a large amount of cash. A search warrant of the room where White was staying was subsequently executed, and officers found a large quantity of processed marijuana, scales, packaging material, a loaded handgun and a rifle. Two other individuals were also arrested in connection with this investigation.

Those charged Wednesday include:

*Billy White (DOB 10/02/1985), Cookeville, TN. One count Possession of Schedule II for Resale, one count Possession of Schedule VI for Resale, one count of Schedule III for Resale, one count of Introduction of Contraband in Penal Facility and one count Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. Bond set at $40,000.

*Kenneth Bayless (DOB 04/05/1979), Spencer, TN. One count Sale or Delivery of Schedule II for Resale. Bond set at $25,000.

*Sharlinda Turner (04/12/1992), Rock Island, TN. Arrested on General Sessions Court capias. No bond set.

All three individuals were booked into the Putnam County Jail.

Two Arrested, 150+ Pounds of Marijuana Seized in Crossville Operation

CHATTANOOGA – A joint operation by several law enforcement agencies has resulted in the arrest of two individuals accused of trafficking a large amount of marijuana into Tennessee.

On Thursday, authorities received information about a scheduled delivery to the Crossville Municipal Airport. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a small plane on the tarmac and its pilot, Dennis Howard Bonneau (DOB 12-20-70). In searching the plane, authorities discovered approximately 66 pounds of pharmaceutical grade marijuana inside the aircraft. Agents also encountered a woman inside the airport’s lobby, identified as Erin Elizabeth Reed (DOB 3-7-83), who was in possession of a bag containing approximately 90 pounds of pharmaceutical grade marijuana, along with edible marijuana products.

Agents arrested Bonneau, of Weston, Florida, and Reed, of Arcata, California, and charged each with one count of Manufacturing, Delivery, or Sale of Schedule VI. Authorities subsequently booked each into the Cumberland County Jail, where – at the time of this release – they were each being held on $500,000 bond.

Agencies participating in this operation included the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Drug Investigation Division, the Crossville Police Department, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, the Middle Tennessee High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Drug Overdose Investigation Results in Heroin-Related Charge for Murfreesboro Man

NASHVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Drug Investigation Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a Rutherford County man on a heroin-related charge.

On November 17^th, two individuals in Murfreesboro suffered non-fatal drug overdoses. Heroin recovered from the overdose victims was examined at the TBI forensics lab, and tested positive for the presence of fentanyl. Agents were able to develop information that identified the source of the heroin. Working with officers with the Murfreesboro Police Department and State Probation and Parole, they executed a search warrant at a residence on North Academy Street, and recovered heroin from that home.

On Friday night, Agents arrested Richard Dale Bain (DOB 06/04/1982) and charged him with one count of Possession of Schedule I. He was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

TBI Top 10 Most Wanted in Custody in Indiana, Alleged member of Vice Lords-wanted for Heroin distribution

NASHVILLE – A man who was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 Most Wanted list in July is now in custody, after being arrested today in Indiana.

Bradford (DOB 3-19-79) had been wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to face a charge of Conspiracy to Distribute and to Possess with the Intent to Distribute Heroin. Bradford is a known member of the Vice Lords with ties to Chicago and the Middle Tennessee area.

Brandon Bradford was taken into custody today at a hotel on Eastern Boulevard in Clarksville, Indiana. He had barricaded himself in a room there for about an hour before surrendering. Bradford was taken into custody by the FBI, with assistance from TBI, the Metro Nashville Police Department, and officers with the Jeffersonville (IN) Police Department, the Clarksville (IN) Police Department, the Clark County (IN) Sheriff’s Department, the New Albany (IN) Police Department, and the Floyd County (IN) Sheriff’s Office.

Bradford is currently being held in the Floyd County Jail in Indiana.

This continues to be an active and ongoing investigation

SEARCH WARRANT LEADS TO NARCOTICS AND STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERY

On Monday August 8, 2016, Crossville Narcotics Detective’s, as members of the 13th Drug Taskforce, long term investigation relating to stolen property and Narcotics Distribution, led the execution of a search warrant and the seizure of stolen property and illicit narcotics at 94 Lakyn Drive, Crossville, TN. Following an in-depth investigation and undercover operations, this action is the latest example of the Crossville Police Department’s resolve to eliminate illegal narcotics in our community.

With this most recent effort, Illegal Drugs and approximately $4000 in stolen items were seized during the search warrant service. Four local residents, three of which are currently out on bond for previous narcotics related charges, have been under investigation for narcotics and theft crimes, were the target of this operation. Multiple felony charges are pending the outcome of the completed investigation and their presentation to the Cumberland County Grand Jury.

Participating in the operation were the Crossville Police Department, 13^th Judicial Drug Task Force, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the HIDTA / TBI Drug Task Force.

On Thursday July 21, 2016, Officers with the City of Crossville Police Department arrested another Cumberland County resident, following the actions of The Cumberland County Grand Jury, in which indictments were handed down for various charges.  Crossville Narcotics Detective’s efforts led to the charges being presented to the June 27, 2016 session of the grand jury.  

With this most recent effort:

WANTED - Pamela Kay Neal – 44 years old, Charges: Sale and Delivery of Oxymorphone and Oxycodone (2 counts ea.), Sale and delivery of counterfeit substance and possession of over ½ oz. of marijuana with the intent to sell and deliver. Neal is currently WANTED and will have a $40,000.00 bond.

Kurt William Vanmeter – 22 years old, Charges: Sale and delivery of a counterfeit substance and possession of over ½ oz. of marijuana with the intent to sell and deliver. Vanmeter is currently being held on $15,000.00 bond.

WANTED – Walter Duane Simons – 63 years old, Charges: Employing a firearm during the commission of a felony,Sale and Delivery of Oxycodone (3 counts) and possession of Oxycodone and Oxymorphone with the intent to sell and deliver (1 count ea.). Simons is currently WANTED and is believed to have absconded to Michigan. Simons will have a $40,000.00 bond.

Vanmeter was arrested and taken to the Cumberland County Jail for processing. Neal and Simons remain at large. These latest actions by the Crossville Police Department’s Narcotics Detectives and Police Officers demonstrate the Department’s resolve to eradicate illicit narcotics in our community.
