Newport Woman Indicted, Accused of Filing a False Report

KNOXVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the indictment of a Newport woman accused of falsely reporting sexual abuse involving a child.

In February, at the request of 4^th District Attorney General James Dunn, TBI Special Agents began investigating allegations of child sexual abuse made by Lorinda Gail Sutton. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that indicated Sutton had not been truthful and the incident she reported did not occur.

This week, the Cocke County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Sutton (DOB 11/5/75) with one count of Filing a False Police Report and one count of Falsely Reporting Child Sexual Abuse. Today, Sutton was arrested and booked into the Cocke County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

Four Indicted in Marion County on Various Charges: TBI

CHATTANOOGA – A joint investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of four individuals, after they were indicted this week.

At the request of 12^th District Attorney General Michael Taylor, on April 28, 2016, TBI Special Agents joined investigators with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in investigating several individuals on complaints of theft, controlled substance violations and fraudulent receipt of food assistance within Marion County. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that implicated two men and two women in those or other charges, which occurred over several months in 2016.

On June 8^th, the Marion County Grand Jury returned indictments, charging the four with the charges listed below. Each individual turned himself or herself in to authorities Friday and was booked at the Marion County Jail:

*Doris Ann Gholston (DOB 5-13-1951) – Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Theft, Fraudulent Receipt of Food        Assistance, Conspiracy of Possession of Schedule III, Possession of Schedule III for Resale. $27,000 bond.

*John Alfred Gholston (DOB 5-31-1961) – Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Theft. $6,500 bond.

*Jerry Jay Jones (DOB 1-2-1966) - Theft of Property, Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Theft. $14,000 bond.

*Stacy Yolanda Terry (6-2-1964) - Coercion of Witness, Official Misconduct. $10,000 bond.

On Tuesday, November 15, 2016 the Crossville Police Department continued its mission to protect our community and families from the dangers of illicit narcotics. Crossville Police Department’s Narcotics Unit served an outstanding Grand Jury indictment on Cumberland Drive resident, 39 year old, Terry J. Manis. 

The indictment, which was served without incident, charged two counts of Sale of Schedule II Narcotic (Oxycodone) in a Drug-Free school zone, two counts of Delivery of Schedule II Narcotic (Oxycodone) in a Drug-Free school zone and possession of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony. These felony charges were presented to the Cumberland County Grand Jury, following in-depth undercover operations, within the City of Crossville.

Manis’ bond was set at $40,000 for the above offenses. Assisting with the operation were Crossville Police Department, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, 13^th Judicial Drug Task Force, and the HIDTA / TBI Drug Task Force.

NARCOTICS INDICTMENTS SERVED ON FENTRESS INMATE BRINGING ADDITIONAL FELONY CHARGES

On Wednesday August 3, 2016, Officers with the City of Crossville Police Department served an indictment for the arrest a Fentress County resident, following the actions of The Cumberland County Grand Jury, in which the indictments were handed down for Prescription Drug Fraud (x4 counts) and TennCare Fraud (x2 counts). Crossville Narcotics Detective’s efforts led to the charges being presented to the June 27, 2016 session of the grand jury. With this most recent effort:

Joshua Bertram Clark – 36 years old, who is currently being held at the Fentress County Jail following an arrest for similar crimes in that county, was served with the Cumberland County indictments and, once released from Fentress County, will face an additional $30,000.00 bond in Cumberland County.

This investigation, spanning over 10 months and involving agencies in more than 6 counties in Tennessee, uncovered stolen prescriptions which were forged and passed, using several names at multiple pharmacies, for the receipt of illegal Schedule II narcotics. In addition to the fraudulent/stolen prescriptions, TennCare was also fraudulently used to help purchase some of the prescription narcotics. These latest actions by the Crossville Police Department’s Narcotics Detectives demonstrate the Department’s resolve to eradicate illicit narcotics and protect the families and children of our community.
