Friday Night Crossville Grinder House Singer Songwriter Shows Broadcast Worldwide.

While many people know about Crossville Grinder House Coffee Shop on Main Street, you may not know that every Friday evening the live music presented there is also broadcast over internet radio to the rest of the world.

The program showcasing singers and songwriters is organized and hosted by Cumberland Co. musician J. J. Thomas who has 4 albums under his belt and was recognized with the Josie Music Award for traditional country artist of the year for 2017.

J. J. Thomas

Thomas said that a coffeehouse was a great place for music and many of the greats got their starts entertaining in similar small and intimate venues. Thomas added that these artists love being able to meet fans and friends this way and share their music with new folks.

The shows are broadcast over Internet radio station WFMC-Jams and you can listen live by going to http://www.wfmcjams.com/ or by finding the station on the Tune-In app available on many devices.  Tickets to the show are free.  For more info, visit ere: https://www.grinderhousecoffeeshop.com/live-music/

The Friday night shows feature a variety of artists and music genres specializing in singer-songwriters giving listeners the inside track to the creative process.

Upcoming artists include May 11 Diane McCall Younger sister of Nashville star Darrell McCall and on May 18 Hawkshaw Hawkins, Jr. son of the famous country star killed in the plane crash that killed Patsy Cline just a month before his son was born and his mother was country star Jean Shepard.

October's Friday at the Crossroads had some of the best crowds and weather so far.

It looked like the Harvest Festival version of Friday at the Crossroads brought one of the biggest crowds to the almost 2-year-old bi-monthly event.  Part of what brought the crowds was the weather that could not have been any better for the Friday night street party and event.

Friday at the Crossroads started back in 2016 and continues to grow and bring crowds out to the businesses and events held in historic Downtown Crossville.

The crowds filled Main Street and there was music scattered through the blocks of Downtown closed for the huge event.  One final Friday at the Crossroads is scheduled for December 1, 2017, and with the growing success, it should be back again in 2018.

Enjoy the photos below!

Downtown Crossville held wall to wall people for the
October Friday at the Crossroads.

The Chuck Elliot Band entertained the crowds from under the
historic Palace Theatre marquee!

The hungry crowd had food trucks and...

Main St. Resturants to choose from.

Kid's activities included
Face Painting,

Fun Photo opportunities,

and the inflatable bounce house.

Ben Lomond Co-op provided
free Wifi access to visitors,

Keeping the crowds connected.

Music was everywhere! Loose Cannon fired up their Karaoke machine,
there was German band music from the
Gazebo on the Courthouse lawn, and

and a little bagpipe music too.

Lost tape of Frazier Moss from the WCPT-TV Saturday Night Jamboree

Fiddlin' Frazier Moss of Cookeville Tennessee was a national treasure and a true artist of old time fiddle music.  Here is a brief bit of one of his appearances on the WCPT-TV Saturday Night Jamboree.  I was the host of the show from 1979 through about 1981 or so and the show was originally broadcast live from the Main Street studio location and by the time this video was made the studio had moved out to Genesis Road and the building where Stonehaus Winery is now located.

Special Thanks to the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound (TAMIS) for rescuing this old 3/4 inch video tape for posterity.

Info on Frazier Moss from David Holt's website.

First song is Take Me Back to Tulsa and the 2nd is Down Yonder

Unknown band performing on the Saturday Night Jamboree.

Friday at the Crossroads Winter Wonderland coming December 2!

Plans are being finalized for the next Friday at the Crossroads event on Friday December 2 from 4 to 8 PM.

Bring the kids and stop by the Spirit Amphitheater to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and get a free photo taken.  There will be Christmas lights through out town, with food, music, shopping and more.

Christmas on the Mountain will be taking donations of toys for underprivileged kids so get into the sprint of the season!  If you've been before you know what a great event these are so bring someone along with you who has never been.  If you've never been, you owe it to yourself to see what all the excitement is about.
