Officer Garcia recognized as Crossville Police Officer of the Month

In January 2018, Patrol Officer Martin Garcia observed a vehicle that he suspected to have been reported stolen. The vehicle was confirmed stolen by Ptl. Garcia, who witnessed it traveling in the area of Stanley Street. The vehicle pulled into an apartment complex, in an attempt to evade detection. Ptl. Garcia acted quickly and made contact with the vehicle and the driver was taken into custody. His attention and observation led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle, which was processed and returned to its rightful owner. Ptl. Martin Garcia’s diligence and dedication to duty reflect greatly add to the effectiveness and professionalism of our agency.

Crossville PD Officer Jared South Recognized as Officer of the Month

City of Crossville Police officer receives recognition as “Officer of the Month” for November 2017.

On November 18, 2017, Officer Jared South observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of US Hwy 127 South. A traffic stop resulted in Officer South making contact with the individuals located within, who appeared nervous and were making inconsistent statements. His subsequent investigation led to the discovery and seizure of 3.5 grams of methamphetamine and 53 Narcotic pills which, following Officer South’s investigation, the driver admitted to have been selling. Additionally, Officer South seized over $600 in US currency, which is believed to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics. Officer South’s efforts and professionalism are to be commended.

Two City of Crossville Police Department officers have received recognition with the issuance of “Officer of the Month” awards for December 2017.

In the month of December 2017, Sergeant Dustin Lester observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Myrtle Avenue, which had pulled into a driveway in an attempt to evade detection. Sgt. Lester made contact with the vehicle and the individuals located within and his subsequent investigation led to the discovery and seizure of over 4 ounces of methamphetamine, which had been hidden in the engine compartment of the vehicle, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia, which had been hidden about the passenger compartment. Sgt. Dustin Lester’s diligence and thorough investigating efforts resulted in a large amount of dangerous narcotics being taken out of the hands of a suspected drug dealer and off of our streets. Sgt. Lester’s efforts add to the effectiveness and professionalism of our agency.

Additionally, on December 17, 2017 Officer Chrystal Massey responded to Walmart, to assist another officer with a suspected shoplifter. Officer Massey conducted a thorough search of the female suspect and recovered methamphetamine and marijuana. Later, on December 26, 2017, Officer Massey stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Through her attention to detail and investigative efforts, Officer Massey recovered a stolen IPhone that was in possession of a female passenger, who is suspected of the theft. Officer Massey’s dedication to duty and diligence is a fine example for our agency.

Two City of Crossville Police Department officers have received recognition with the issuance of “Officer of the Month” awards for March, 2017.

On March 26, 2017, Patrolman Jared South responded to a burglary in progress at Glenwood Place. Upon his arrival he made contact with a manager and an employee. After speaking with them he successfully located all 3 of the suspects. His subsequent investigation led to the arrest of all 3 suspects and the recovery of the stolen property.

On March 3, 2017, K-9 Patrolman Camden Davis responded to the area of Holiday Hills for reports of a vehicle, observed in the area, vandalizing mailboxes. Dozens of mailboxes had been vandalized over the previous several weeks. Patrolman Davis located and stopped the vehicle, identifying three male suspects and began to investigate the incident. Subsequently, his police action led to multiple incidents of vandalism being solved, including the identification of additional suspects.

Two City of Crossville Police Department officers have received recognition with the issuance of “Officer of the Month” awards for February, 2017.

In the month of February 2017, Patrolman Kevin Wood located and recovered a stolen vehicle, apprehended three suspects during his investigation and returned the stolen property to the owner. Additionally, Patrolman Kevin Wood investigated the theft of several televisions from a local church. During his investigation he was able to locate and apprehend the person responsible and sought assistance for the suspect through referral to a rehabilitation facility. Patrolman Kevin Wood’s daily diligence and thorough investigating efforts help add to the professionalism of our agency.

Also in the month of February 2017, Patrolman Joel Stevens’ dedication to duty and proactive efforts are being recognized. In February alone, Patrolman Joel Stevens singed and served 31 arrest warrants, issued 26 traffic citations, wrote 22 police reports, answered 117 calls for service and assisted his fellow officers on an additional 34 calls for service. Patrolman Joel Stevens performed all of this activity while also diligently patrolling the City of Crossville. His good attitude and strong work ethic have been a great motivator for other officers on his shift and is a fine example for our agency.

Crossville Police Department Names Officers of the Month for January 2017

Press Release: February 27, 2016

Two City of Crossville Police Department officers have received recognition with the issuance of “Officer of the Month” awards for January, 2017.

On January 13, 2017, Sgt. Dustin Lester and Ptl. Daniel Coleman responded to an unresponsive male at an Aster Street residence. The officers immediately began life saving CPR, and restored a pulse. The subject began breathing for a short time but, despite their heroic attempts, later passed away.

On January 18, both officers responded to a Crabtree Road address, where a motor vehicle had fallen on an individual, trapping him underneath. The officers quickly assessed the situation and Ptl. Coleman jacked up the vehicle as Sgt. Lester pulled the man from danger. The gentleman suffered no injury, in part to the officer’s quick actions.

Lastly, on January 27^th, 2017, both officers responded to an open “911” telephone line at a Calloway Drive Residence. Upon their arrival, officers found a female lying in a pool of blood. They made entry and found the female to be semi-responsive, suffering from a large laceration on her head. Ptl. Coleman and Sgt. Lester provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived. Both followed up with the female the next day at the hospital. She greatly appreciated their concern and assistance.

These officer’s dedication and professionalism is to be commended. It is with exceptional officers and a determination to maintain the highest levels of service to the citizens of Crossville that our agency will exceed the expectations of our community.

2 City of Crossville Police Department officers have received recognition with the issuance of “Officer of the Month” awards for June, 2016.

On June 13, 2016 Sgt. Dustin Lester and Ptl. Daniel Coleman responded to a suspicious vehicle at the Peavine Road McDonalds. Upon their arrival they made contact with an individual in a stolen vehicle. This individual was entered into NCIC as a wanted felon from the state of Virginia and as a “Suicidal person”. Both officers noticed the individual had several cuts on his bgt.ody and had lost a large amount of blood. These officers secured the scene and applied first aid to the individual, until EMS arrived. Their actions stopped the mam’s bleeding saved him from further harm. They also removed a dangerous individual from the public and recovered a stolen vehicle. These officer’s dedication and professionalism has been rewarded with officer of the month recognition for the month of June, 2016.
