Hazardous Weather Outlook for Sunday August 6, 2017. Showers and Thunderstorms possible through much of week.

Information issued by NOAA National Weather Service: 

Today and Tonight there is a Marginal risk for severe weather from 

this afternoon through tonight. Strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall 

will be the main threat this afternoon and evening.

FORECAST FOR CROSSVILLE:

Today's Forecast calls for A 30 percent chance of showers and 

thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. 

South wind around 5 mph.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a low 

around 68. South southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation 

is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Monday: Showers and thunderstorms. High near 77. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. 

Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and 

three quarters of an inch possible.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK: Thursday through Friday followed by cooler weather.

DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Heat indices of 100 to 105 degrees will continue today before
cooler weather moves in. A cold front will sweep through Middle
Tennessee on Friday, bringing an increased chance of thunderstorms
to the mid state. Strong to severe storms are possible starting
tonight. The primary threats are damaging straight-line winds and
torrential rainfall.

Storms likely overnight Thursday and Friday

The potential for strong to severe storms will continue on Friday
as an unusually strong summertime cold front sweeps across the
mid state. Once again, damaging straight-line winds and torrential
rainfall are the main threats.

Flash Flood Watch in effect for Cumberland County until 7 PM 7-15-17

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for much of Middle Tennessee
for the rest of the day.

A band of thunderstorms, some with torrential downpours, will
sink slowly southward across the Mid-State today, bringing along
the potential for flash flooding.

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of Middle Tennessee, including
  the following areas, Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Coffee,
  Cumberland, Davidson, De Kalb, Dickson, Giles, Grundy,
  Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lawrence, Lewis, Marshall, Maury,
  Perry, Putnam, Rutherford, Smith, Van Buren, Warren, Wayne,
  White, Williamson, and Wilson.

* Until 7 PM CDT this evening

* Isolated areas in the watch area are expected to have heavy
  rainfall today, with may produce localized flooding. Rainfall
  rates of up to an inch an hour will be possible.
