Council to hold several meetings THursday night May 10 including called meeting and budget work session

Crossville city council has a busy night of meetings scheduled for the second night this week with a closed session with the city attorney, a short called meeting and a work session on the 2018-19 fiscal year budget Thursday, May 10.

At 4:30 a closed executive session is set for the council to meet with city attorney Will Ridley in a meeting listed as “regarding pending legal matters.” The only way the council can legally meet in closed session is to hear a report from their attorney on an ongoing case. the private meeting must be limited to discussions between the attorney and members of the public body regarding the public body's legal options, and no discussions between members of the public body as to what action should be taken can take place.

At 5 PM a special called council meeting has been set with some routine ordinances to be voted on for additional readings. In addition, the council will discuss and potentially act on a proposed grant application for the Urban and Community Forestry Program. This is a continuation grant that has been used for the past two years to fund the part-time employment of the city's urban forester.

The grant is a reducing grant and will fund $19,200 of the $32,000 cost of the program. The city's share will be $12,800. In addition another $11,000 funds the Crossville Tree Board operating expenses and horticulture supplies for the program.
