NASHVILLE – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested and charged a Gainesboro man in connection with the shooting of his girlfriend early this morning.
At the request of 15th District Attorney General Tom Thompson, TBI Agents began investigating the incident that occurred in the 500 block of Stacy Cemetery Lane in Jackson County. During the course of the investigation, conducted with the assistance of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Agents developed information that Charles Carpenter (DOB 10-21-44) was the individual responsible for the crime. The victim received medical treatment and was released from the hospital later in the day.
Wednesday afternoon, authorities arrested Carpenter and charged him with one count of Criminal Attempt to Commit First Degree Murder. At the time of this release, Carpenter remained in the custody of the Jackson County Jail on $150,000 bond.
