As Canadian based high-pressure system influences usher in a colder airmass across the mid-state tonight, temperatures are expected to fall to freezing if not below freezing across all of Middle Tennessee, especially in lower lying locations. Sensitive outdoor vegetation may be damaged or killed.

As an upper-level disturbance moves across eastern portions of

the Highland Rim and Upper Cumberland Regions from the mid-evening

hours tonight through the mid-morning hours on Wednesday,

accumulating snowfall will be possible. Total snow accumulations

of one, up to two inches across northern higher elevations of the

Light Snow Will Impact Travel Across Middle Tennessee Late Today Through Tuesday...

A cold front will move through the area late today and this evening, followed by a period 

of light snow. Snowfall will average around 1 inch across Middle Tennessee, with some higher

amounts around 2 inches possible, especially across the northwest counties and Plateau. 

Along with the snow, temperatures will plummet to the teens overnight, and will not rise 

much at all on Tuesday. The wind will not be terribly strong, but it will be enough to keep 

wind chills in the single digits late tonight through Tuesday. Roads will become snow covered 

and slippery, and with cold temperatures, the snow will stick around for a couple of days.
