Light Snow Will Impact Travel Across Middle Tennessee Late Today Through Tuesday...

A cold front will move through the area late today and this evening, followed by a period 

of light snow. Snowfall will average around 1 inch across Middle Tennessee, with some higher

amounts around 2 inches possible, especially across the northwest counties and Plateau. 

Along with the snow, temperatures will plummet to the teens overnight, and will not rise 

much at all on Tuesday. The wind will not be terribly strong, but it will be enough to keep 

wind chills in the single digits late tonight through Tuesday. Roads will become snow covered 

and slippery, and with cold temperatures, the snow will stick around for a couple of days.

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. The ice will result in

  two inches and ice accumulations of one tenth to two tenths of
  an inch are expected.

* WHERE...Middle Tennessee areas east of a Springfield to
  Centerville to Collinwood line. This includes Hendersonville,
  Gallatin, Celina, Nashville, Lebanon, Carthage, Cookeville,

A developing storm system over Texas will be spreading moisture
eastward, with precipitation expected to reach the mid state
tonight. As temperatures slowly fall tonight, eastern portions of
Middle Tennessee are expected to drop to near or below freezing by
sunrise. Freezing rain is expected to fall across our eastern
counties. With cold surface conditions, freezing rain will lead to
ice accumulations on all exposed surfaces. Improving conditions
are expected by late Monday morning as freezing rain changes over
to all rain.

Winter Weather Advisory Now Issued for 5 AM to 10 AM Tuesday for the Upper Cumberlands

FIRST MEASURABLE SNOW OF THE WINTER POSSIBLE TUESDAY MORNINg

The first chance of measurable snow is likely to occur Tuesday
morning in Middle Tennessee behind a cold front that will pass
through the area Monday tonight. Winds will shift around to the
northwest and as they do, the northern half of the Cumberland
Plateau will begin to see the snow fly. Starting around 5 am, most
everyone will see less than one inch of snow, however, higher
elevations could see as much as an inch and a half by 10 am.

TUESDAY.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Plan on slippery road conditions,
  including during the morning commute on Tuesday. Total snow
  accumulations of up to one inch are expected, though some spots

Winter Weather Advisory in effect overnight Saturday for area.

An upper trough coming through Middle Tennessee Saturday night will combine with sub-freezing temperatures to produce snowfall across the region, with most of the accumulating snow occurring after midnight. While most locations will receive only light accumulations, a few spots across the Cumberland Plateau and southern Middle Tennessee will likely see up to an inch of snow.

Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Cumberland Co.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Cumberland County and much of East Tennessee. The Cumberland County area is expected to get between one half and one inch of snow accumulation Thursday night with up to 2 inches possible.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has already started putting brine down on state highways in preparation for the possible accumulation expected.

NOAA Weather Forecast for Crossville:

Thursday: Snow likely after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 39. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Thursday Night: Snow likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 21. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 26. North wind around 10 mph.
