Statement from Cumberland Co. Mayor Allen Foster on Bus Garage Shooting Incident

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims involved in today’s shooting at the Cumberland County Bus Garage.

Cumberland Co. Mayor
Allen Foster

The response of the Board of Education employees at the bus garage was impressive.  They kept their composure as one ran toward the shots and another made the call to E-911 to get our emergency responders on scene as quickly as possible.  I witnessed the BOE Administration on the scene and working hard to ensure our students were safe throughout and were able to make it home as quickly as possible.  Thank you.

I want to recognize the emergency response teams and the various law enforcement agencies for their quick response to the scene.  We are lucky to have such dedicated workers in and around Cumberland County that step up in our time of need.  You are appreciated.

I also want to thank the CAO of Cumberland Medical Center, David Bunch, for calling me to offer whatever support or coordination that may have been needed at the time the incident occurred.

To the county students and Board of Education employees that are dealing with the aftermath of this tragic event – I want you to know that you have the support of your county.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.
