If you have noticed some of the trees being removed along Main Street in Crossville, They will be replaced.
The removal and replacement of Linden trees along Main Street are underway. The trees will be replaced in the near future. Many had branches creating problems for walkers and branches that could have fallen on members of the public. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to the City of Crossville Urban Forester Seth Harrison. You can reach him by phone (931) 456-5682 or email at seth.harrison@crossvilletn.gov.
According to a tree survey prepared by UT in 2015, many of the Linden Trees had not been properly maintained and pruned leaving branches too low and in need of work. In addition, a number of the trees were damaged in the 2015 ice storm. Harrison was a UT student at the time and worked on the study before he started working for Crossville as the urban forester.
During the 2015 city tree survey, linden trees along
Main Street were assessed and are now being
replaced. Pictured are UT professor Sharon

Harrison now serves as the Crossville
urban forester.
In addition, the City of Crossville’s Urban Forester Seth Harrison, in conjunction with UT Gardens, will be conducting two free tree pruning classes. The class will be held on Tuesday, February 6, and Wednesday, February 28, from 9 a.m. until noon at UT Gardens, 320 Experiment Station Road. In the three-hour class, participants will begin indoors with an overview of basic tree identification, tree selection, tree planting techniques, tree care, and an introduction to arborists’ tools and equipment. The class will then move outdoors to learn and practice proper cuts and safety considerations. Classes will be conducted regardless of the weather, and participants should dress accordingly and bring work gloves for the class. Class size is limited. To reserve a spot, contact Jennifer at (931) 484-0034. More classes will be added if enough interest is shown. To request a different time or more classes, contact Harrison at (931) 456-5682 or email seth.harrison@crossvilletn.gov.
