With One Week left to Qualify for the May County Primary election, Races Mostly Set

With just one week to go before the deadline, now five candidates have qualified for the May Republican Primary race for County Mayor's office including Timothy A. Claflin, Allen Foster and J.C. Hancock, Randal Kidwell and Doug Scarlett.

Only one candidate has taken out nominating papers but not yet returned them, Ligue Wisdom. Wisdom who was a candidate four years ago for the mayor's office.



The deadline to return petitions to qualify for the May Primary ballot is February 15 at noon.

No Democratic candidates have taken out papers to run for County Mayor in the May Primary but an Independent candidate for County Mayor has qualified for the ballot, Sandra Lee (Sandy) Davis. Davis will be on the August Ballot as an independent but does not have to run in the May Primary.

All three Republican candidates for the office of County Road Superintendent have qualified for the May primary including incumbent Scott Blaylock, Stanley L. Hall and Kevin D. Music.

Two candidates have qualified and will be on the ballot for the Republican Primary race for Circuit Court Clerk, Jessica R. Burgess and Nick Neal. No Democratic candidate has picked up papers to run.

Incumbent Judy Graham Swallows has qualified for the Register of Deeds on the Democratic primary.

Incumbent Sheriff Casey Cox is the only candidate qualified for the Republican primary. Sheriff Cox also has no competition from Democratic candidates.

Incumbent Kim Tollett Wyatt has qualified for Trustee on the Republican Primary and incumbent Jule Bryson has qualified for County Clerk on the Republican Primary. No additional candidates have picked up papers for either of those offices
