BREAKING NEWS: David Beaty Out as Crossville Police Chief.

After a series of problems with a high turnover of employees and management issues, David Beaty has been removed as police chief for Crossville.

After being rehired as Crossville Police Chief in January of 2017 there have been a series of grievances and complaints filed against Beaty and concerns about the department.

Beaty was put on 90-day probation following an annual evaluation earlier this year and we broke the story along with followup stories on the management issues.

According to the annual evaluation, the department had suffered a 33 percent turnover rate of personnel and is currently short over half a dozen officers for a full staffing.

Captain Chris Kendrick is expected to be named interim chief while a search for Beaty's replacement is made.

The rehiring of Beaty two years following his taking early retirement and a buyout raised questions and discussion in the community.  Previously Beaty had served 19 years as police chief following the retirement of Robert Foutch.
