TBI Investigates Fire Arm Discharge by Farifield Glade Police Chief Related to Family Dispute

TBI Press Release by Josh DeVine

At the request of 13th District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, TBI Agents continue to investigate the circumstances of an incident on Monday night that resulted in the chief of the Fairfield Glade Police Department discharging his service weapon while off duty.

Preliminary information indicates the incident began with an exchange between Chief Mike Williams and his brother, Brandon Williams, at a roadside park on Highway 70 at Deep Draw Road in Cumberland County. The chief's brother reportedly exited his vehicle and approached the chief in an agitated and threatening manner, at which time the chief fired his service weapon, striking the right front fender of his brother's vehicle, near where Brandon was standing.

Brandon Williams then left the scene in his vehicle, after which the chief notified dispatch. During the resulting efforts to locate Brandon Williams, he reportedly failed to stop for officers from the Crossville Police Department when they tried to execute a traffic stop. He subsequently stopped and was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest and Resisting Arrest.

TBI Agents continue to gather relevant interviews and evidence in connection to this investigation and will submit investigative findings to the District Attorney General for his further review and consideration.
