Weekend Events include Rock the Block Friday and Cumberland Homestead Homecoming on Saturday

Looking for some events this weekend? The Friday evening street party or the celebration of the history of the Cumberland Homesteads may fit the bill.  Details of both events follow.

July 6 is the date for the next Rock the Block street party event along North Stanley Street.  The very popular family friendly event runs from 4 PM to 8 PM and includes a wide variety of business displays, fun activities for kids and adults, live music and real social interaction.

Some 44 different groups plan to participate.  A watermelon eating contest will be held at 6 PM with registration at 5 PM.  Because the contest is limited to 14 participants registering early is recommended.  Live music will be provided by the band Soulfissh.

Homestead Tower in the 1940's

On Saturday, July 7 from 10 AM to 3 PM the Cumberland Homestead Homecoming will take place at the Homestead Tower.  The event includes a Farmer’s market, wagon rides, fresh honey, live music, weaving demonstrations, food and lots of reminiscing. Free admission to the grounds and both museums from 10am to 3pm.
