Crossville City Council meets July 10 to consider hotel/motel tax, city manager contract extension and more.

The Crossville City Council holds their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, July 10 and will consider the final reading of the new hotel/motel tax, an extension of city manager Greg Wood's contract, sale of property in Wyatt Court off of Woodlawn Road and approval of repairs to one of the city's firetrucks.

Crossville city council reviews items for the July agenda
during their work session on July 2.

The council will meet as the audit committee in the third-floor conference room at 5:15 with the regular council meeting scheduled for 6 PM in the council chambers.

Council ha approved two readings of the hotel/motel tax and one reading to approve the city ordinance allowing the city to collect the tax remains. Passage appears to be certain and the item falls under the council's consent agenda.

While there is still time on city manager Greg Wood's contract, council member Pamala Harris has proposed that his contract be extended. The contract extension would run through March 2020. The matter was discussed briefly at the earlier work session. According to city attorney Will Ridley the council can only contract up to a maximum of 2 years with a city manager. The current contract runs through March of 2019 and so at this time, a one-year extension is the most that is allowed.

Council will consider the sale of 23 acres of property that is at the back of the Wyatt Court Industrial Park to Forbus Investments. Forbus, operated by Butch Smith, owns most of the rest of the park property and two industrial buildings. The city will retain some 6 acres at the very back of the park.

Council will consider approval of some $11,460 of repairs on Crossville firetruck ladder #1. The truck is from 1994 and one of the older vehicles in the department. Several repairs were expected but an inspection turned up additional repairs needed as well.

Other items on the council agenda include the purchase of a new vehicle for the city manager and other vehicles including a street department backhoe, consider a $13,500 donation to the Fair Park Senior Center toward the purchase of a new van, and approval of an airport maintenance grant.
